Research in cattle breeding field is increasingly active especially about methane emissions produced by these animals.
Constant monitoring of the level of methane emitted by cows allows to carry out a series of assessments on the animal's diet, their well-being and their efficiency in milk production.
All these analysis can lead to an improvement and efficiency of cattle breeding, as well as to the study of new feeding and management techniques aimed at lowering methane emissions levels, one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect.
To support this area research, it is possible to use Edinburgh Sensors devices, with NDIR technology, for a timely and reliable measurement of CH4.
Thanks to the remote control sensor possibility, gas sampling can be done at the level of the individual animal, for example inside the milking robot where the cow has a well-defined space, which allows for repeatable measurements.
