Gas emissions from small and large ruminants: a global problem

Cattle breeding has an important impact on global greenhouse gas emissions: enteric methane represents 65 % of the environmental effect of the field. This is a problem that requires reliable on-farm measurements, to develop concrete mitigation strategies.

New diets, nutrition additives, genetic profiling, and husbandry practices can be validated through accurate measurement of CH₄ and CO₂ emissions, to clear the way towards a more sustainable future.
